Fall Semester 2017
My Literature of the Bible (REL 111) classes during the fall semester of 2017 will use the following texts:
- Bart Ehrman, The Bible: A Historical and Literary Introduction (Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2013). This will be our primary textbook for the course, and you will need to have access to it during the first week of classes. So please plan ahead and order a copy in advance! The campus bookstore will have some available to purchase, although you will find it cheaper online (click the title above for a link to Amazon).
- A Bible. You will need to have some sort of Bible for this course, and I want you to have an actual Bible to use in class (i.e., not an app on your phone or a website). You will find in the campus bookstore a Bible that should be marked “optional.” If you want to bring a Bible from home, you should feel free to do so. If you want/need to order one online, here’s a good basic one that is is cheap and perfectly suitable for our purposes. If possible, you should consider investing in a study Bible. Oxford and HarperCollins are both excellent choices!
REL 111.90 at the campus bookstore can be accessed here.
REL 111.03 at the campus bookstore can be accessed here.
If you have questions about these texts or anything related to our class, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me via e-mail!
